Donte Parker joined Buena Cheer in 2022 as Head Coach, bringing 15 years of deep cheer and coaching experience to the role, along with a true passion for the sport. Prior to taking over the program at Buena, he was Head Coach for cheer at Leuzinger High School in Los Angeles. He cheered at El Camino College for two years, and went on to judge for USA Cheer, and later served with the Midwest All-star team as a panel judge for competition cheer.
He combines his own background and skills with a comprehensive method to coaching based on a holistic approach, focused on inspiring athletes to excel and grow. “It’s about encouraging drive and determination—the knowledge that the athletes can do things they might not think they can do, and inspiring that confidence in themselves,” says Parker. “You can’t really teach it, but you can bring it out of them, and they’ll see the best version of themselves as a result.”
Coach Donte is a firm believer in the team exemplifying school spirit and positivity, and bringing creativity to life in both in performances and through the team’s good example. He is also a musician and when he’s not coaching, he enjoys playing the keyboard, and he has previously served as a video director for music videos for pop music performers.
